Johnny Depp

John Christopher Depp II was born on June 9^th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky. Johnny was raised in Florida and at the age of 15, dropped out of high school. Johnny fronted a few different garage bands. One of these garage bands was called The Kids. They actually opened for Iggy Pop.

After a visit to Los Angeles, Johnny decided to get into acting. His former wife Lori Anne Allison (December 1983-March 1986) introduced him to Nicolas Cage. In 1984, Johnny made his feature film debut in the cult horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street. By 1987, Johnny got a big break when he was cast as undercover cop Tommy Hanson in the TV series 21 Jump Street. Depp was on the series until 1990.

By 1990, Johnny had played in many teen movies such as Private Resort 1985, Platoon and Cry Baby in 1986. In 1990, Johnny first started working with Tim Burton in the movie Edward Scissorhands. This role of a sad, tragic hero with scissors for hands established Johnny as a leading Hollywood actor.

After Edward Scissorhands, Johnny could pretty much chose any role he wanted. He started to favor the more dark characters. He starred in Donnie Brasco in 1997 with Al Pacino. He has played a druggie in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 1998. In 1994, he starred in Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow in 1999, Corpse Bride and Willy Wonka in 2005 which was also all Tim Burton films.

Besides working on Tim Burton films, Johnny has starred in many film hits such as The Astronaut’s Wife and The Ninth Gate in 1999, Chocolat in 2000, From Hell and Blow in 2001 and Once Upon a Time in Mexico in 2002.

Johnny Depp became a mega super star when he was cast as Captain Jack Sparrow in the first installment of the Pirate’s of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003. Since then, he has played the Captain Jack Sparrow character in Pirate’s of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest 2006 and Pirate’s of the Caribbean: At World’s End in 2007.

In 2007, Johnny gave singing another chance and starred in the dark film/musical Sweeney Todd of to which Johnny won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.

Johnny Depp got a chance to play gangster John Dillinger in the popular Public Enemies film in 2009.One of the most anticipated movies of 2010 was another Tim Burton film Alice in Wonderland. Johnny played the Mad Hatter to perfection.

In 2011, Johnny Depp will be starring alongside Angelina Jolie in The Tourist and playing the voice of Rango in the upcoming animated feature film of the same name. He is also rumored to be starring in the fourth installment of the Pirate’s of the Caribbean movies. No date has been set yet for this film.

Johnny Depp and long time girl friend Vanessa Paradis have 2 children together and reside in France.
